The interrupt.

Shame stuck its thumb in my chest and pressed sore –
“you could have done more, could’ve done more, could’ve done more!”
Believing it, I nursed that melody for so long
– inducing my own hurt.

God provided the interrupt.
“Righteousness is not this! Humility is not hurt!
I’ve not called you to sacrifice what you do not have.
It’s been done!”

Release.
I look down at tired hands, renewed.
I stand on broken knees, rebuilt.

Hope embraces me.
My God stays with me.

Recover.
